Lisa Vatan

"Trained in sewing and then illustration at the ESA St Luc Bruxelles, I began developing my self-taught painting skills in 2012 alongside my studies. In my Brussels flat, I created my first monotypes without a press — simply using a cutting board, paper, water and paint.
Still unaware that this was a recognised technique, I explored, experimented and then cut out my first prints to feed into my illustrations. Gradually, illustration gave way to my paintings and monotypes, and my search for materials.
Having settled in Switzerland in 2017, I discovered Suminagashi through Bastien Conus and combined this practice with monotype and collage.
Also inspired by my meditations and dreams, I transform my inner revelations into starting points for my creations."
